The Blue Ocean Film Festival in conjunction with St. Petersburg Preservation will show the stunning film, "An Island President."   The film is the story of President Mohamed Nasheed of the Maldives.  After bringing democracy to the Maldives following 30 years of despotic rule, Nasheed is faced with even a greater challenge: what to do with one of the lowest lying countries in the world in the face of the fact that a three foot rise in sea level will submerge and make uninhabitable the 1200 islands making up the country.

Like all of St. Petersburg Preservation's Movie in the Park events, the film will be free and it will be a great kick-off to the many film showings and other events associated with the Blue Ocean Film Festival.

Sunday, November 2 is the first day of "falling back" and without daylight savings time so the evening starts with live music at 5 pm followed by the movie on the big outdoor screen at dusk (around 6:15 pm). The fun takes place in North Straub Park, between 4th Ave. & 5th Ave. NE at Beach Drive. Come early and enjoy live music before the movie, enjoy a picnic or purchase food from one the Saturday Morning Market’s favorite vendors who will be set up on-site. A limited number of folding chairs will be available, but better yet, attendees are welcome to bring their own blanket or low seat!

Music will be by the Dead Ichs, a band that has been enjoyed several times at Movies in the Park!
