Fourth Street has a long history of bringing tourists to the 'Burg across Gandy Bridge before I-275 was constructed.  With the steady flow of tourists came businesses to serve them and the 'Burg's residents.  Fourth Street, between downtown and 22nd Ave. N. still retains a fine collection of historic commercial structures.  The tour will start at one of the finest of those buildings the 1926 Sanitary Market Building at Sunken Gardens, which later was renovated by the upside down pyramid pier architect William Harvard for use as the local Coca-Cola bottling plant. From there, the tour will meander down 4th St, opening your eyes to historic buildings passed everyday but hardly noticed.  And come early as the new occupant in the old Market Building is St. Pete Bakery, owned by award winning chef Michael Ostrander.  You will be sorry if you don't get one of his amazingly delicious pastries with a cup of coffee while waiting for the tour to start!

Tour is free to SPP members and just $5 for non-members.  Reservations recommended but not required.
