The public art movement is blossoming in the 'Burg, highlighted this past year by SHINE St. Petersburg, the mural festival that put the spotlight on the power of art in public spaces and will continue in 2016. One of the murals attracting a "buzz" is on the back of the 1924 Alexander Bank (State Theater), collaboratively created by Palehorse and Tes One. Reaching back in time, artist George Snow Hill also created a "buzz" in St. Pete. Hill undertook several paintings through President Roosevelt's WPA Federal Arts project, including one for the Pinellas County courthouse that was objected to by Judge John Bird and one that was ultimately ripped off the wall at the St. Petersburg city hall by Joe Waller (Omali Yelshitila).

This Keep St. Pete Special program will feature artist and muralist Palehorse (Chris Parks) and Diane Craig, an expert on George Snow Hill. Both are engaging speakers with great stories to tell! During the pre-program reception abbreviated mural tours will be led by Florida CraftArt President Kathryn Howd. Reception with light food and cash bar.
