An Evening of Conscious Conversation with Dr. Charles B. Dew - part of the ongoing YWCA of Tampa Bay's Conscious Conversation Series.

SPP has partnered with the YWCA, USF St. Petersburg, Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital, The Florida Holocaust Museum and Florida Print Solutions, Inc. to present Dr. Charles B. Dew, one of America's most respected historians of the South, an award winning author whose books have helped to shape the conversation on the history of race in this country and a Williams College professor. Dew was born & raised in St. Pete. His most recent book, The Making of a Racist: A Southerner Reflects on Family, History, and the Slave Trade is in part an autobiography of life in the South in the 1950's, allowing readers to understand just how deeply racial thinking saturated white southerners who were otherwise admirable people.

The event is free, however, reservations recommended as space is limited.
