Meet under the Driftwood sign at

First Street South and 25th Avenue South

When you enter Driftwood, you are entering what some folks say feels like a subtropical forest primeval. There's a quiet mystique about the place, where walkers stroll through the winding, densely shaded streets almost in a state of meditative euphoria. Come share that experience as long-time board member, PTB's institutional memory, and retired attorney Peter Belmont leads you thru this historic neighborhood. The first settlement in south Pinellas County began here along the shore of Big Bayou in the mid 1850s, predating the establishment of St. Petersburg in 1888, and boasting its own post office, general store and hotel. You will see the historical marker identifying the location of the only armed conflict in Pinellas County during the Civil War, and you can admire the unique homes that created the Driftwood subdivision in the 1930s. This is a rarely offered tour, and you won't want to miss the opportunity to walk the Driftwood story.

Tours are free for PTB members. Guests and non-members are $10/person.

Tour reservations are strongly recommended as space is limited to 30 people.

If a tour is full, walk-ups will not be accommodated.
