From a 3D tour of a historic home to reconstructing an ancient artifact, new virtual technologies are helping us to uncover and understand the past.
In our inaugural PlaceMatterSP talk, Dr. Lori Collins will demonstrate how 3D digitization and emerging technologies like augmented reality are being used to preserve, document and showcase heritage sites around the world.
Showcasing her work in the Tampa and St. Petersburg area, Dr. Collins will highlight the strategies being used to create immersive web-mapping tools that blend traditional library collections and maps with 3D and virtual concepts to offer new ways to present heritage stories to the public while documenting imperiled and at-risk heritage sites.
Lori Collins, Ph.D. is Associate Professor in Research and co-Director of the University of South Florida Libraries, Center for Digital Heritage and Geospatial Information.
PlaceMattersSP is presented by Preserve the ‘Burg and USF's Nelson Poynter Memorial Library.
