November’s first Perspective’s program was a lot of fun as we “opened” the renovated 1925 Endicott Funeral Home (and former YWCA) now Rococo Steak. Our next program, “From Cafeterias to Craft Brews” – A History of Food Culture in the ‘Burg - is going to be even better! And, of course, our fun evening will highlight another preservation success story - Green Bench Brewing! Green Bench opened in October, turning a 1925 warehouse & garage into its brewery, tasting room & outdoor garden. The program features Chris Sherman, former food editor at the St. Petersburg Times, and Gary Mormino, one of our favorite historians (another foody afficionado) as they trace the ‘Burg’s evolution from the cafeteria culture of the 1920′s to the craft beer hub that just earned St. Pete a spot on the NY Times list, 52 places to go in 2014. All four of the’Burg brewers will be offering tastings and the Witches BBQ Den will offer a slider sample, with additional food and beer available for purchase.
