Warehouse Arts District Walking Tour
Saturday, December 7
Join us for a very special holiday tour along the Pinellas Trail in the Warehouse Arts District! This unique tour will highlight three former industrial warehouses that have been reimagined and repurposed as art centers for working artists, with exclusive access to the artists and gallery owners in a small-group setting.
This limited-capacity tour, organized specifically for Preserve the 'Burg, will begin with coffee and pastries at the Morean Workshop Space, a vibrant 9,000-square-foot art-making hub offering specialized workshops and artist residencies in a beautifully restored historic building along the trail.
From there, we’ll head to the nearby Warehouse Arts District Association (WADA) headquarters to explore the ArtsXchange and WADA campus, showcasing an array of artist studios and galleries.
We’ll also visit Soft Water Gallery, a contemporary art gallery located in a warehouse that was the former home of Soft Water Laundry, Florida’s largest commercial laundry a century ago.
At each location, see how these historic commercial structures have been repurposed for use by local artists. You'll hear directly from from gallery representatives, including Valerie Scott Knaust, Director of the Morean Workshop Space; Mark Aehling, Board President of the Warehouse Arts District Association; and Lisa Lippincott, Gallery Director of Soft Water Gallery.
This special-access tour is $20 for PTB members. Guests and non-members are $25/person.
Tour reservations are strongly recommended as space is limited to 30 people.

Holiday Porch Party at the Historic Pace House
Preserve the ‘Burg Board President Robin Reed and her husband Joe welcome you to a holiday porch party at their home in Old Northeast.
Located at 705 16th Avenue Northeast, the Mediterranean Revival “Pace House” was constructed in 1932 for Mr. and Mrs. Virgil H. Pace. This award-winning, locally landmarked historic home contains almost all of its original architectural features and details, including wood windows, inlaid mahogany doors, wood and tile floors, and wrought iron gates and railings. Hand-stenciled beams, light fixtures, and stained woodwork continue to grace the interior.
The original owner, Helen Pace, was one of Florida's earliest business women, whose career spanned a half century. In addition to operating St. Petersburg's Sherman's and the Don Leno Shop - offering ladies and men’s apparel, respectively - she established successful businesses throughout the Tampa Bay area and was described by her granddaughter, Bettie Pace Stewart, as a woman ahead of her time, with a keen business sense.
Joe and Robin purchased the Pace House in 1999, becoming the home's 3rd owners. They have been meticulous stewards of the property, adding it to the St. Petersburg Register of Historic Places in 2010.
Join the Reeds and Preserve the ‘Burg as we celebrate the holidays and prepare for the new year.
Enjoy light hors d'oeuvres and a donation bar along with tours of this special historic residence.
$25 for PTB members, $30 for non-members.
